While traveling we stopped in Forsyth,Ga for lunch. We selected the restaurant just because we liked the name. What a pleasant surprise to find this gem! We ordered grits fritters and fried green tomatoes with shrimp for appetizers absolutely delicious! Had two of the daily specials but the menu made it hard to desire. Spectacular all round. Our server, Holden, was wonderful. We’ll make an effort to drive through here again just for this dining experience.
We’ve eaten here lots of times and the food is always great. Stopped at this time for my mother’s birthday and had a great time. I had the quail that was on special and it was excellent. Start out with the grit fritters as your appetizer and you won’t be disappointed.
Grits Café in Forsyth is absolutely wonderful! The restaurant itself is beautiful and welcoming, and the food is truly amazing. Everything we ordered was fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. The wine selection is excellent and pairs perfectly with the menu. What really made the experience stand out was the service — every staff member, from the host to our server to the bartender, was friendly, attentive, and professional. You can tell they genuinely care about their guests. Highly recommend Grits Café for a great meal and an all-around fantastic dining experience!
I recently had the pleasure of visiting Grits Café in Forsyth, Georgia, and I have to say—I was immediately drawn to the cozy setup and charming décor. The atmosphere captures that perfect Southern blend of comfort and class, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in. The menu offers a thoughtful mix of Southern favorites and modern twists, showcasing why this café has been a local staple for nearly 25 years. Few dishes represent the South quite like grits, and here they serve as both inspiration and centerpiece for an array of creative, flavorful offerings. Having eaten my way across Georgia, my palate has grown familiar with the state’s culinary rhythm—so naturally, I found myself comparing flavors and textures as I dined. While I enjoyed my meal overall, the salmon entrée could have used a little more seasoning to elevate it from good to memorable. Next time, I’ll branch out and try another dish—perhaps one of their signature grits-based plates or a local favorite the regulars rave about. Still, Grits Café delivers on charm, hospitality, and a clear passion for Southern cooking. It’s definitely worth a visit if you find yourself in Middle Georgia and want a taste of authentic, down-home comfort served with a touch of elegance.
What a gem! We loved this place. The menu is the out of this world. Best steak I have ever had and in the middle of nowhere! The bartender, Courtney, is an absolute pleasure to be around and full of helpful suggestions and knowledge. The rest of the staff was very personable and kind. What should have been a basic dinner turned into an event and we had a great time! This place has the best kind of regulars, friendly and kind and personable. The ambiance is classy yet laid back. You cannot go wrong stopping by this place.
I'm not usually one to write reviews, but an experience this life-altering deserves documentation. Let me start by saying that I've had steaks before. I thought I knew steak. I was wrong. The ribeye at Grits cafe has rendered all previous steak experiences null and void. I'm pretty sure a celestial choir started singing when they brought it to the table. The staff here are less "waiters" and more "culinary psychics." Our server anticipated our needs before we even knew we had them. My water glass was never less than half-full – a feat of hydration engineering I've not witnessed since the Hoover Dam was built. When I asked for the steak to be cooked "delicious, please" (I like to keep them on their toes), our server didn't miss a beat, simply smiled, and said, "An excellent choice, ma'am" and retreated to the kitchen with the confidence of a general. And the steak... oh, the steak. It was a masterpiece, seasoned so perfectly I suspect they have a dedicated 'salt sommelier' on staff. The outside had a beautiful, smoky char, and the inside was a perfect, blushing rare, exactly as requested. It was so tender I genuinely considered leaving my steak knife for the next patron, as a butter knife would have sufficed. The whole experience was so flawless I'm convinced the manager has a direct line to a higher power, possibly the Beef Gods themselves. If you're looking for a sign to try this place, consider this review that sign. My only regret is that I didn't order two and almost required a legal separation from the most magnificent ribeye steak I have ever encountered. Five Stars. Go for the staff's mind-reading abilities, stay for the life-altering ribeye. The only minor drawback? I'm now pretty sure my own cooking is ruined for me forever.
Grits was absolutely fantastic! The pork rind appetizer with bacon jam and pimento cheese was incredibly delicious and a perfect way to start the meal. The salmon sandwich paired with the sweet potato fries was amazing—fresh, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. For dessert, the bread pudding with ice cream was pure heaven. On top of all that, the service was wonderful and made the experience even better. Can’t wait to come back!
